Community

Bracebridge is a town and the seat of the Muskoka District area in Ontario, Canada. The town was built around a waterfall on the Muskoka river in the centre of town. There are other nearby waterfalls such as (Wilson's Falls, High Falls, etc.). The town was first incorporated in 1875. Bracebridge is the home of Santa's Village, a Christmas theme park, established in 1955. It was inspired by the town's location at 45 degrees latitude, halfway between the Equator and the North Pole. In 2016, Bracebridge held its first annual Fire and Ice Festival. The annual Bracebridge Triathlon goes every July during the summer months. Visitors to the area have numerous options of accommodations and places to dine.

Land Acknowledgement

The Great Muskoka Snowshoe Experience acknowledges that the event is being held on land that has been inhabited by Indigenous peoples from the beginning.

In particular, we acknowledge the traditional territory of the Anishnaabeg, specifically the Ojibway, Chippera and Odawa peoples. This territory is covered by the Williams Treaty (of 1923) and the J. Collins land purchase (of 1785).

We recognize and deeply appreciate their historic connection to this place. We also recognize the contributions First Nations, Metis, Inuit, and other Indigenous peoples have made, both in shaping and strengthening this community in particular, and our province and country as a whole.

We are collectively commited to make the promise and challenge of Truth and Reconciliation real in our communities.
